    Corporate social responsibility

    Our aim is to contribute positively to society. As a provider of payment services used by millions of people, VocaLink is very conscious of the trusted position we hold in the community. Our corporate social responsibility programme is an integral part of our business operations and our 2007 strategy is to create a positive impact in four key areas: 

    • the environment 
    • education
    • employability
    • supporting the causes our employees care about.

    In 2006, we participated in a national benchmarking survey. The Corporate Responsibility (CR) Index measured how our practices compared with those of other businesses in the UK. As a first-time participant, we were delighted with our performance, especially in the workplace and community management areas. The index has provided us with an invaluable opportunity to learn as we expand our programme into the future. We are committed to continuous improvement and are working to enhance our performance. We believe that any business, irrespective of its size, can make a contribution to society.

    Creating a positive impact

    Our staff see the disadvantage that exists in local communities around our sites, as well as further afield. Our volunteering policy encourages employees to take an active role with charities or community groups they care about. In this way we have raised substantial amounts of funds for health, disability, and education based causes.
