    Our history

VocaLink has an exemplary track record in the transactions business dating back to 1968. We have not missed a single day’s processing in the four decades that we have been serving the banking industry.

Our history demonstrates that innovation is part of our culture.  Many of our services have been technological firsts that have subsequently become part of everyday life. We are proud of our heritage and excited about our future.

Here are some of the milestones in our history:

May 2008: Faster Payments service goes live on VocaLink Real-Time platform

27 May 2008 - VocaLink announces successful launch of UK's Faster Payments service. The ground-breaking Faster Payments service is the first application of the VocaLink Real-Time Payments Platform and generates significant interest from major banks around the world.

November 2007: VocaLink breaks records in transactions per day and month

November saw a new monthly processing record of 520,411,937 Bacs payments. This is the first time the company has broken the half billion barrier for payments processed within a month. VocaLink has also set a new Peak Day Processing Record of  90,314,917 Bacs payments on Friday 30th November.

    July 2007: VocaLink is born

The VocaLink Group is born out of the merger of Voca and LINK.  The relationship and shared vision for the future of payments was borne out of the succesful bid to deliver the UK’s Faster Payments service via our joint venture: Immediate Payments Ltd.

We break a new record by switching over 11 million transactions in a single week day

Four important recommendations change the course of banking in the UK. Both the Bacs and LINK schemes are advised to split the supply of technology from the scheme management and what will become Voca and LINK Interchange Network emerge.
