Prepaid cards

The VocaLink prepaid card service gives banks easy access to the international market leading stored value card capability. Offered in conjunction with Prepay Technologies Ltd, the service covers everything from business design to branded card design and issuing. We can provide the same range of managed services for prepaid cards as we offer with our Debit Card Issuing service.

Prepaid cards are Maestro™ branded and can be used like debit cards around the world. Customers can use them for payment or cash withdrawal at ATMS in over 210 countries. Cards can also be reloaded with credit and reused. Customers can reload their cards at the familiar PayPoint™ terminals used for mobile phone top-up and at Post Office™ counters. This gives customers top-up facilities at a network of 35,000 convenience stores and newsagents in the UK.

Banks can use prepaid cards in numerous ways to extend their service to new markets or differentiate their offering. They can be issued as pocket money cards, or for foreign travel as a more convenient and widely accepted alternative to travellers’ cheques.
