  • Energy consumption

Measure:

  • Continue to monitor and report our energy consumption across all business sites
  • Track energy consumption against our forecasted targets
  • Publish energy consumption targets up to 2020.

Target area:

  • Waste consumption

Measure:

  • Reduce waste not recycled by 30%.

Target area:

  • Paper usage

Measure:

  • Maintain our reduced paper consumption target from 2010 and take steps to further reduce our consumption where possible (maintain paper levels of 2010) i.e 50 % of 2009.

Target area:

  • Travel

Measure:

  • Continue to report on our full travel footprint on a monthly basis
  • Ensure our travel expense policy encourages green travel
  • Investigate and report findings into a green company car scheme
  • Enhance our teleconferencing facilities in order to further reduce travel commitments across sites
  • Investigate our travel to business impact and enhance facilities where possible to encourage more sustainable travel. We will measure our commuting footprint.

Target area:

  • Data centre efficiency

Measure:

  • Continue to work with the  Carbon Trust to build and implement energy saving initiatives
  • Continue to measure and report on our Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE)
  • Manage our data centre migration programme to ensure best practice energy efficiency technologies are implemented
  • Demonstrate our best in class data centre efficiency technology to customers.

Target area:

  • Employee environmental awareness

Measure:

  • Adhere to our internal environmental communication plan
  • Plan and deliver 1 environmental week  across all of our operational sites.

Target area:

  • Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC)

Measure:

  • Provide an overview of the CRC programme to all employees
  • Ensure CRC awareness is communicated to all key stakeholders
  • Review energy usage at monthly Environment Action group meeting
  • Issue quarterly carbon and energy usage reports both internally and externally.

Target area:

  • IT Recycle

Measure:

  • Measure the reuse and recycle of all end of life electronic and electrical equipment, reporting findings centrally and publically.
