World record breaker Mike Perham continues to inspire and encourage young people to achieve their dreams and wishes to share his aspirations with your pupils
Fewer people have sailed around the world single-handed than have been to the Moon, and Mike’s attitude and quiet confidence in his own ability in living his dream will be an inspiration to a whole generation. In recognition of his achievement, Mike has been awarded the status of Princes’ Trust ambassador.
Continuing to be an inspiration to young people around the world, Mike has designed a programme to share his inspirational message with other young people.
Schools programme
Mike is planning to visit UK schools, with the objective of meeting young people in years 7 through to 11. The format consists of a one hour interactive session with the following agenda:
1. Introduction to the session
2. Video showing Mike’s epic sea voyage around the world (20 mins)
3. Presentation from Mike, describing some of the highlights of the voyage (20 mins)
4. Interactive question and answer session (20 mins)
If you think that such a presentation would of appeal to your pupils (perhaps years 7-10) , please do get in touch as we are expecting this programme will of tremendous interest and Mike can only undertake a limited number of presentations (he is still studying himself!)
The interactive session will be supported by pre-work in the form of a workbook and a ‘Dream Wall’ where children can record and share their own dreams on a specially designed webpage. Mike will bring a large copy of the Dream Wall to the school to support his visit. There is also a memento pack which Mike has designed especially so that his key messages are retained.
We are hoping that by providing a number of materials in this way, Mike’s legacy will live on long after he has visited your school.
