Real-time balance checking gives prepaid mobile customers the option to top-up little and often or in larger amounts less frequently. It also gives parents the ability to top-up their children’s phones when the need arises, with nothing more than a text.

monilink™ Ltd was formed as a joint venture between VocaLink and Monitise plc with the aim of bringing banking services to mobile phones. It is now wholly owned by Monitise, with the service delivered utilising VocaLink technology. The service was recognised by the World Economic Forum in 2006 as a Technology Pioneer in the area of mobile banking services.
