27 May 2009 marks the first birthday of the Faster Payments Service.
Over the past 365 days and nights of uninterrupted service, more than 180 million payments have been successfully processed with a total value of just under £70 billion. A peak record of 5 million faster payments, valuing over £1 billion, was processed on 2 March 2009.
