Faster Payments Service goes from strength to strength 
The volume of Faster Payments continues to rise as more and more banking customers utilise the speed, efficiency and certainty of the service. At the first anniversary (on 27 May 2009), there had been 365 days and nights of uninterrupted service, 180 million payments and a total value of just under £70 billion.

A peak record of 5 million Faster Payments, valuing over £1 billion, was processed on 2 March 2009.

The total volume of payments processed since the launch of the service until 27 September 2009 stands at 262 million payments and a total value of over £110 billion.
